As soon as the dust mites were mentioned let’s find out what are they. Dust mites are tiny creatures that can not be seen with a naked eye. They need warm and humid climate to live and breed; they have got eight legs and are sightless. They tend to live in carpets, sofas, mattresses and clothing. Dust mites eat dead skin cells and dander. 90 per cent of those who suffer from allergy are sensitive to dust  mites.
They float into the air when anyone vacuums, walks on a carpet or disturbs bedding, but settle out of the air once the disturbance is over. Dust mite-allergic people who inhale these particles frequently experience allergy symptoms. So if you sleep eight hours a day your nose is in direct contact with a pillow loaded with dust mite particles!
Dust mites don’t bite and they don’t live on people either. They are harmful only for those who suffer from allergy as they can worsen the symptoms.
Not only the dust mites themselves cause allergy their feces are allergic too. The feces of the dust mites are usually very similar to pollen. They are of the same size; they contain the same quantity of allergen and the same rate of protein release. Between 100 to 500 mites live in one gram of dust.
What can be done to protect us from the dust mites? Though usual household insecticides have no effect on dust mites, there are two ways to reduce exposure to dust mites in the home. The first one: wash your bedding at least once a week. The second: buy dust mite encasements.
These two east ways can reduce the quantity of dust mites in your bedroom thus reducing the allergy symptoms.
Nothing Works?!
You seem to have tried everything, followed all the instructions and cleaned the whole house and you still suffer from the unbearable symptoms. In such situation you have to visit your allergist he will recommend you other treatment methods: medications and allergy shots. Consult your allergist to determine the most effective treatment method for you, and you can gain control of your dust mite allergy and achieve relief from allergy symptoms.
