Organism's Reactions to the Allergens
The reaction of the organism can be different to different allergens. In some cases the reaction is immediate, while in others it can be delayed to a couple of hours and even to an astronomical day. The biological process in cases with immediate reactions is not the same as with the delayed reactions.

But if the person is sensitive to some substances another process takes place. As soon as the allergen lands on the mucous membranes lining the inside of the nose, a chain reaction occurs that leads the mast cells in these tissues to release histamine and other chemicals. These powerful chemicals bond definite cells that line some small blood vessels in the nose. This allows fluids to run away, which causes the nasal passages to swell, follow-on in nasal congestion. Histamine can cause sneezing, irritation, itching as well, and the surplus of mucus production, which can result in allergic rhinitis.

The allergenic symptoms can look like a respiratory illness. The difference is that the respiratory symptoms worsen and then your condition improves whereas those of the allergies don’t disappear during a couple of weeks without differences in evolution. Also you usually don’t have high temperature when you have the allergy.

Anaphylaxes is a rare but very hazardous type of allergenic reaction. It normally happens when a person is exposed to a big quantity of allergenic substance. Such reaction usually comes rapidly – within seconds or minutes. In anaphylaxis, cells in the immune system release large portions of chemicals - including histamine. Finally, blood vessels open up and start to leak fluid into nearby tissues, causing swelling.

Signs of anaphylaxis may appear in different organs. For instance, on skin itching, and flushing can be observed; the digestive tract can suffer nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; swelling of the throat and wheezing that progresses to severe breathing difficulty happen in the respiratory tract. Anaphylaxes can lead to low blood pressure, light-headedness, and loss of consciousness.

It’s worth emphasizing that such effects are extremely rare and the majority of those who suffer from allergies will never have them. But if you suspend anaphylaxis you ought to call an ambulance immediately since it is very dangerous for life.
